LIBRARY ASSOCIATION WELCOMES NEW PARTNER FOR PUBLIC RELATIONS AND PUBLICITY
AWARDS
The Library Association today announced a new partner for one of its annual
awards. These Awards will now be known as The Library Association Emerald
Intelligence + Fulltext Public Relations and Publicity Awards (in
association with MCB University Press).
The partnership is initially for two years. The 1999 Awards ceremony will
take place in London at the end of November. Awards will be made for a
Promotional Campaign with a budget under £250, a Promotional Campaign with a
budget over £250, Printed Publicity Material, Multi-media and Web Pages,
Sponsorship & Partnership and Personal PR Achievement.
"We have embraced library partnering to increase electronic journal access
and are delighted to be working with The Library Association to honour
libraries that best promote and increase use of their services. We are
particularly pleased that one of the Award categories will specifically
encourage the use of electronic resources," says Mathew Wills of MCB
University Press, publisher of Emerald Intelligence + Fulltext. "It's good
to see librarians and some of the more forward thinking publishers working
together to maximise library usage and content dissemination, now that the
Internet and other factors have contributed to new ways in which information
can be acquired and accessed."
The Awards will be administered by The Library Association's Marketing
Department and the Association's Public Relations & Publicity Group. To
receive an entry form when available, please register your interest by
calling Louisa Myatt on 0171 636 7543.
This announcement follows a fallow year for the Awards in 1998 while the
Association and its Public Relations & Publicity Group sought a commercial
partner. The Awards were first presented in 1985 and previously sponsored by
library supplier TC Farries. As part of the 1999 Awards, the new Farries
International company will donate a trophy for Personal PR Achievement, in
memory of Tom Farries; a founder of the original Awards.
