I found the options for input rather too broad and therefore prone to
generating significant errors when it comes to suggesting alternative
tariffs.
The bulk of my phone bill is for calls to Internet services (Premier
Line, F&F, Best Friend) and it suggested that I would save two pounds
on a GBP58 pound bill by switching Call & Save, F&F, Best Friend and
four pounds by using ntl PC Internet.
I ran my call logs through DUN Manager's call cost analysis and
recalculated my bill using the two suggested tariffs. Dun Manager
told me I would have paid GBP 12 and GBP 9 *MORE*. Adding in my
national, international and mobile calls made no significant
difference and, if anything, made the increases in the bills slightly
larger.
When I ran my log through the BT Together, F&F, Best Friend option I
found that I would have saved (had it been available over that time
period) 1-2 pounds.
It is difficult, though, to set up a service such as this. Unless you
can work with full call logs, assumptions and generalisations have to
be made. Consequently the results are bound to be inaccurate. It does
at least raise awareness of alternative options but I would like to
see more services included and the BT Together tariff added - or does
its omission imply that it may not be around for much longer?
