My apologies to AltaVista (sort of). It does not use a fixed width
table. I have just looked at the source code and all table widths are
in percentages. It does use Cascading Style Sheets, though, and the
problem seems to be in the way they have been used.
The page works OK maximised on most of our screens here and using
Internet Explorer 5 and in Netscape 4 with CSS switched on. I
normally use Netscape 4.6 with CSS disabled. (This is because so many
sites use minuscule fonts in their CSS and I prefer to be able to
read the page normally rather than peer at it through a magnifying
glass.)
You'll still need to use the scroll bar if you have a small or low
res screen, and if you are using NS 2 or 3, or Opera. (Haven't
checked what it looks like in IE4 or 3 yet).
