As some background to my previous posting.
The new Data Protection directive requires the information in
directories to "be limited to what is necessary to identify a particular
subscriber" BT seem to have interpreted this to mean no name only
searching in advance of the UK regulations appearing. They are still
being drafted and will come into force in March.
The directive does say this right applies only to "natural persons" so
why BT have extended this to include businesses I don't know. Not very
helpful to business in any event.
All the changes have meant that we have cancelled our subscription, as
we are not paying £1200 for information we can get free on the web.
Incidentally, we are about to do the same to FT Profile because of
FT.Com. Is this a trend?
