eLib Phase 3 HeadLine Project

The HeadLine Project is one of five hybrid libraries projects part-funded
under the JISC/CEI Electronic Libraries (eLib) Phase 3 Programme. It
involves a partnership of the London School of Economics, London Business
School and the University of Hertfordshire.
This three-year project began in January 1998 and aims to design and
implement a working model of the hybrid library, in actual academic
environments in the subject areas of Economics and Business Studies. The
project will present the user with a wide range of library resources,
regardless of physical form, via a common Web-based interface. The project

We wish to appoint a Project Officer for the final phase of the project.
The successful candidate will take the lead role in evaluating the use of
HeadLine services in working academic environments, as well as researching
and developing the range of information resources available to end users.
Other main responsibilities will be to assist in negotiations with copyright
holders and to lead in publicising the project both within the partner sites
and throughout the UK academic community.
The following skills and experience will be required:
* Graduate, with at least one year's experience of working in a
library/information service or in a similar information services research
and development project
* Excellent all-round IT user skills - including email and Website editing
and familiarity with electronic information services
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to
liaise with colleagues and to give talks and presentations
* Good written skills, for producing material for public dissemination, also
organisational and administrative skills
