COURSE ANNOUNCEMENT
a half day seminar for information managers
Wednesday 7th July 1999
The European Union's Data Protection Directive is causing concern and
disruption to companies that operate web sites, online services and
intranets which contain or use personal data. The Directive states that
EU countries will be able to stop personal data held in such databases
from being distributed to countries whose protection is considered
inadequate. Very few countries - even the United States - are
considered to have adequate protection.
This half day seminar will provide you with an early opportunity to
assess the legal, regulatory and operational implications of the EU/US
negotiations. It will assist you in planning your strategy to conform
to the legislation as it affects access to and processing of personal
data over your intranet and on the web.
