This is to remind those of you who are IIS members that the IIS AGM
is on Thursday 16th September.
One of the items on the Agenda is a motion regarding, not
surprisingly, the proposed LA-IIS merger. An amendment to that
motion has also been put forward and was mailed out separately at the
end of last week.
If you have not yet read the revised version of the Consultative
Document, there is a copy of the document on the IIS Web site
(http://www.iis.org.uk/). The section that relates to SIGs has been
put up on the UKOLUG Web site at
http://www.ukolug.org.uk/news/la-iis.htm
If the IIS AGM votes for acceptance of the document and the merger,
UKOLUG will have to decide whether it is become an LA type SIG or OiL
(Organisation in Liaison). The UKOLUG AGM is also taking place on
Thursday 16th as part of the IIS members day. (13.30, SOAS,
Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London). Do please come and make
your views on this issue known.
If you are unable to attend the UKOLUG AGM in person, please let us
have your views either via this discussion list, or by email to me at
[log in to unmask], by fax to me at 0870 056 8547, or use the
feedback form on http://www.ukolug.org.uk/news/la-iis.htm
