PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSISTANTS - EVENINGS
The School of Pharmacy, University of London
The School of Pharmacy is an extremely busy biomedical academic library
offering high quality information services to students, researchers and
staff. In order to extend our evening opening hours and thereby improve
our services to users, we are seeking to appoint 2 or 3 part-time
assistants to work weekday evenings during term time between 5pm and 9pm.
Duties will include desk coverage, enquiry work, help to users, shelving,
tidying, etc. All Library housekeeping procedures are computerised using
the LIBERTAS system. We are looking for energetic, intelligent and
proactive individuals with excellent customer and communication skills.
Previous experience in a busy modern library and a degree-level education
will be advantageous. Applicants should be able to commit to at least one
(or preferably two) 4-hour sessions per week - and a degree of flexibility
about evenings to be worked and the willingness/ability to help out with
extra hours during busy times will also be an advantage. There is no
weekened work required at present. Pay will be pro rata on a clerical
scale, approx. 7.75 pounds sterling per hour. We anticipate that the
posts will offer excellent experience to those at the early stages of a
library/information-based career. In-house familiarisation training will
be given.
Applications, in the form of a CV, a covering letter, giving details on
availability and the names and addresses of two referees should be sent to
