Libraries without Walls 3
The Delivery of Library Services to Distant Users

An international conference organised by CERLIM -
The Centre for Research in Library and Information Management

For full details visit the conference website at:

http://www.mmu.ac.uk/h-ss/cerlim/walls/

Lifelong learning is becoming a reality throughout the world,
requiring that learning opportunities be delivered to all citizens in
their locality, at work or at home, and resulting in the restructuring
of higher education. Libraries will be called upon to find innovative
and imaginative ways to support such learning, and to treat 'distant'
learners on an equal footing with those on-campus. The 'Libraries
without Walls' conferences address this important theme.

The first two conferences, held in Greece in 1995 and 1997, were
highly successful. For the 1999 Conference papers have been
submitted from Australia, Europe and North America around the
following themes:

Lifelong learning Integrating services to provide the distributed
virtual library Regional library provision through networking

Social and human issues of distributed library services

Supporting open and distance learning

Standards issues

The Conference begins with registration and dinner on 10
September from 9.00 p.m. and ends with breakfast on 14
September.

The total cost is £295 sterling, which includes:-
Registration and attendance at the Conference
Accommodation for four nights with breakfast
Registration Dinner on 10 Sept and Conference Dinner on 12 Sept ·
Lunch and refreshments during breaks in the programme at
the hotel during the three Conference days.

Bookings can be made via the website:
