VACANCY
ASSISTANT LIBRARIAN AT THE BMA
The UK's liveliest medical library and information service requires a
professionally qualified librarian to join its team of five Assistant
Librarians. In addition to general enquiry duties the successful
candidate will be involved in overseeing the BMA and BMJ reading rooms
and managing ILLs. The assistant librarian team is the first point of
contact for our telephone enquiry service; sometimes the pressure of
work can be quite high and it is essential that candidates can deal
effectively with callers and visitors even when under pressure.
The BMA Library is a busy, modern organisation and this post provides an
excellent all-round introduction to medical librarianship and electronic
information services. It will suit either a newly-qualified librarian
or someone looking to broaden their professional experience. We
encourage staff to work towards their LA charter and have an approved
in-service programme.
The salary range is £17,340 - £21,216 including London waiting and
appointments are normally made at the bottom of the scale. Further
details of the BMA library and its services are available on our web
site. There are no application forms, please send your cv to Human
Resources, BMA House, Tavistock Square, London WC1H 9JP by July 31st.
