Just a reminder that August 1st is the deadline for submission of abstracts for
contributed papers to next year's International Congress on Medical
Librarianship. (London July 2-5, next year)
We all know that if you submit your contribution a second earlier than 11;59pm
on the deadline day then evil gremlins come along and turn all your gloosy
silken ideas into flaccid, unattractive flannel, but this time is fast
approaching and now is the time to at least begin to think about what area of
endeavour you'll be wanting to speak about.
The theme of the conference is the convergence of librarianship, publishing and
IT, but the contributed papers programme is being thrown open to cover every
aspect of medical and health information. All contributions will be gratefully
and sympatheticaly received, and none more so than those from people who have
never before spoken at a major conference. Don't be bashful and nervous, most
of the parallel sessions will take place away from the cavernous auditoria and
in perfectly normal-sized lecture theatres that you can pack with your mates,
suitably bribed to mutter "hey wow, I'd never thought of it in that way"
"heavens, what lucidity" etc etc.
Come on, this conference includes the EAHIL European meeting and next year's HLG
conference so with a bit of deft chicanery you can load your CV with three
mentions ofr the price of one*.
Submitting your abstract couldn't be easier - just use the web form set up for
the purpose on www.icml.org.
And for heavens sake get on with it now.
