AND NOW THE REALITY
Led by Chris Batt, OBE, the Library & Information Commission's New Library Network Team will oversee and advise on the implementation of the New Library Network. Well known for his longstanding and passionate commitment to integrating ICT's in public libraries, Chris Batt's mission is to realise his vision of a common carrier network which is filled with dynamic, interactive and imaginative services for everyone which seamlessly interrelates with the host of other networking initiatives currently impacting all LIS sectors (NHSnet, NGfL and UfI - to name just a few).
Chris Batt will share his thoughts on what the People's Network is, its significance and relationship with other networking initiatives, how it will unfold, and how the New Library Network team will co-ordinate developments. This is your chance to hear it from the horse's mouth, and provides a valuable opportunity to share your thoughts with colleagues from a range of sectors also aspiring to embrace the Government's vision of the information age.
HOW TO GET TO THE WRAY PARK CENTRE, REIGATE
By road: From Dorking via the A25 to Reigate, follow the one way system round Reigate and turn left into the A242 Croydon Road at the traffic lights. From Redhill, follow the A25 towards Reigate and turn right into the A242, Croydon Road at the traffic lights. From the M25, via Junction 8, take the A217 towards Reigate. Over the level crossing, take the next left turn, Rushworth Road. At the end, turn left into Croydon Road, and after approx 100 metres turn left into the Wray Park site.
By rail: Reigate Station, on the Redhill to Guildford and Reading line, is 5 to 10 minutes walk from the Centre. Redhill Station, on the London Victoria to Brighton main line, is two miles away. Connecting trains are available to Reigate station, buses to Reigate leave from opposite the station, or there is a taxi rank at the station.
Once on the site, follow direction signs for the Wray Park Centre.
