STAFF DEVELOPMENT: FROM INITIATIVE TO ACTION
Conference, 22-23 June 1999, University of Lincolnshire and
Humberside, Lincoln University Campus, Brayford Pool, Lincoln
Staff development is something we are all committed to as individuals,
managers and service providers. But how can we turn that
commitment into reality as departments and institutions? How do we
take advantage of best practice and use it in our own organisations?
During the course of this conference these questions will be addressed
so that delegates will come away with both strategic knowledge and
practical examples of initiatives being used elsewhere. Keynote
speakers and case studies will examine different staff development
models currently in use and provide opportunities for delegates to
explore how these could be integrated within their own workplace.
Many organisations are now openly demonstrating their commitment
to becoming learning organisations with staff development strategies
underpinning a range of methods to ensure continuing professional
development for their staff. As well as the opportunity to exchange
ideas with other information and staff development professionals,
delegates will be able to consider techniques such as: NVQs, work-
based learning, mentoring, reflective learning, team working, the
University for Industry, appraisal, training to train, using portfolios,
and the EduLib project.
