The Rare Books Group of the Library Association together with the
Heritage Lottery Fund have organised a series of six meetings around the
UK: entitled
CASH FOR QUESTIONS; GETTING THE MOST OUT OF THE HERITAGE LOTTERY FUND
With external funding for the heritage sector in general become
increasingly problematic, and with the rare book and manuscript
librarians in particular coming under growing pressure to find new
sources of revenue, the position of the Heritage Lottery Fund as a
source of funding for recurrent as well as special programmes is
becoming increasingly important. Yet over the last two years the Fund
itself has developed rapidly, with the criteria for funding and the
regulations which govern applications often changing just as quickly.
This series of regional workshops has been designed to bring together
rare book librarians and representatives of the Heritage Lottery Fund
(HLF). The meetings have a two-fold purpose. They will enable the rare
book community to learn more from the Funds regional case officers
about how the Fund works, and how to put together a good application.
The sessions will also give the Fund (in the person of Stephen Green,
Libraries Policy Advisor of the HLF) the opportunity to hear at first
hand the concerns of the profession about the practical operations of
the policies and procedures of the Fund. The meetings are therefore your
chance to talk directly to the HLF, to voice your concerns, and to get
advice on how to make the most out of this major source of heritage
funding.
The chart details the times and places of the meetings. Please indicate
the meeting which you would like to attend by ticking the appropriate
box. PLEASE NOTE THAT NUMBERS ARE STRICTLY LIMITED AND PLACES WILL BE
ALLOCATED ON A FIRST-COME FIRST-SERVE BASIS.
PLEASE NOTE THAT ALL BOOKINGS SHOULD BE MADE BY

THE COST FOR ALL VENUES WILL BE £20.
