The trustees of the Cranston Library invite you to the Cranston Lecture 1999 at
St Mary Magdalene Church, Chart Lane, Reigate on Friday 29 October at 7.30 for
8.00pm
Speakers this year are:
Keith Manley : From Edinburgh to Reigate - Andrew Cranston's Scottish
background
Aubrey Scrase: The origins of Reigate Grammar School - 1675 onwards
Hilary Day: 'Let there be light' - the life and work of William Tyndale.
The library will be open after the lecture, and there will be an exhibition in
the Church.
The Cranston Library, founded in 1701, is situated in a small chamber above
the vestry in St Mary's Church. It lays claim to be the first public lending
library in England.
