Dear ILL folk
At BR/U-1 we will renew books for our readers if they convince us that
there is a reasonable need for them to have it for a longer time. We
don't pass any charges for renewals to our readers.
While we are talking about renewals, can I air something which I find a
bit of a nuisance and wonder if I am just being super paranoid!
If we get something from the LDSU it has to be read in the library only
and the loan period is not usually as long as the 6 weeks we might have
hoped for from BLDSC. They charge for renewals and we have to renew
these often because of the restrictions on their use. These are all
"Common stock" items which are held at LDSU and not BLDSC for the BL's
own policy reasons. I do find it a bit of a rip off that we have to
pay for renewals at LDSU when the nature of the material and their
restrictions mean that it takes our readers longer to use it and there
wouldn't have been any need had we been able to get the item through
BLDSC.
