The reason I was offered my current position was not necessarily for
my qualifications but more for the experience I had gained prior to
going to University.

Although I do not get any benefits (Pay rise etc in my current
post) from being chartered I too feel it is something that I needed
to do.

I was recently chartered (November) and while it hasn't made any difference
to my pay I am glad I made the effort. At the very least it's an ego-boost
with further letters after your name. Also, even given my future job doesn't
require it I think it's good to reflect on your work especially when it's
your first professional post. However, I might add that I wrote it myself
without fabricating any of it though I found it very useful looking at other
PDRs.
