Dear Colleague

National electronic Library for Health (NeLH)

You will already be aware, no doubt, of the intention expressed in
“Information for Health” to provide electronic links to sources of
health information for all healthcare workers and members of the
public. On behalf of the Director of NeLH, Dr Muir Gray, the NHS
Regional Librarians Group have appointed Hudson Rivers as
consultants to report briefly on present provision, the issues and
opportunities in this area and they are undertaking a fact-finding
tour of all Regions. They will be coming to the North West on
Monday, February 15th and you are cordially invited to attend an
open discussion session in the Board Room at Liverpool Health
Authority, Hamilton House, 24 Pall Mall, L3 6AL from 13.30 to 1500.

At this forum views will be sought on issues such as content (eg
what should be in the NeLH?), access (eg how will people be enabled
to use it?), new forms of information (eg electronic journals) and
existing models of good practice (eg systems and projects including
pilot studies, plans and schemes outside the NHS). Whilst we expect
that NHS librarians will be in the forefront at this stage of the
consultation there are many other major stakeholders who will have
views to put forward. Your ideas and suggestions will be most
welcome.

We realise that this meeting is being called at extremely short notice and if you are interested but unable to attend, a substitute will be most acceptable. There is also the opportunity to communicate directly with the consultants (Tel/fax: 0181 505 9453 email [log in to unmask]). We look forward to seeing you.

Yours sincerely
