Dear all
I am a graduate research student at the University of London, currently
working on my PhD, investigating the role of the ecosystem management for
biodiversity conservation in river systems in the UK.
I am currently searching for information on how to map catchment areas
around short stream sections (100m) without the aid of a GIS and digitised
land use data. I am hoping to map the catchment areas (in terms of their
land use - row crop, improved grassland, coniferous forest, urban etc) of
several stream sections at different spatial scales (e.g 100, 500, & 1000m
radii). Can anyone offer any suggestions regarding possible methods for
mapping land use types and calculating their relative contribution (interms
of area) to my specified radii (100, 500 & 1000m)? Can anyone suggest any
references that relate to this topic?
Appreciate your help.
Many thanks.
