Research Assistant: Navigating Complex Digital Multi-Media

We are seeking a psychologist or computer scientist with a background in
human-computer interaction, graphical user-interface design, information
retrieval or requirements analysis to join a European project on
advanced digital multi-media broadcasting.
The proliferation of TV channels and the increasing sophistication of
their multimedia capabilities creates a number of significant new design
and usability problems. You will join a research project on the
development of interactive program guides for digital multi-media
broadcasts. Your work will involve the generation and evaluation of
designs that exploit the novel functionality provided by emerging
multi-media standards. You should have experience with graphical user
interface design and evaluation techniques, a familiarity with Java
would be an advantage.
The post will run for seven months 7 months from June 1999. Salary will
be 19,740UKP pa (pro rata, including London weighting)
