THE VIRTUAL FIELD COURSE
Novel and innovative Computer Software to support
Geographical Education based in the field is now
available.
Designed around the pedagogic situation of
fieldwork to support preparation, projects and
follow-up, but useful in other learning contexts.

Currently you can download tasters of the following
applications, together with examples of their use
in teaching fieldcourses (Virtually Interesting
Projects):
VFC Panoramap Software for fully georeferenced multimedia:
Students can explore georeferenced multimedia
environments you have constructed, or constructed
their own. The software is used with map data,
digital photography, GPS (input and output),
panoramas, audio, text, etc.

VFC Landserf Software for 3D landscape visualization,
exploration, fly-through and analysis: This
program can be used with digital elevation data,
map data, or aerial photography.

The Virtual Field Course project has been funded by
the JISC Technology Applications Programme.
It is a joint project of the Univesity of
Leicester, Birkbeck College, Oxford Brookes
