Fluids in the crust: making space and filling space (G20007)
(Mineral Deposits Study Group with the Metamorphic Studies Group)
Fluids moving through the crust during hydrothermal events, metamorphism or
diagenesis require transient space in which to move; typically this is
infilled subsequently. Processes can involve deformation, dissolution and
mineral growth, and this symposium addresses their mechanisms, timing and
inter-relationships.
Keynote speakers:
Mark Barton (University of Arizona)
Extension, fluid flow and mineralization in the Basin and Range province,
southwestern North America
Bjorn Jamtveit (University of Oslo)
Permeability production and destruction during retrogressive metamorphism
Jay Ague (Yale)
Contrasts between pervasive and fracture-controlled fluid flow during
crustal metamorphism
Correctly formatted abstracts should be received by the convenors by 15th

available at http://www.cougarcomputing.com/geoconf/geoscience.htm
NOTE: Registration for this meeting is free for NERC funded students who are
presenting a talk or poster.
