Hi,
Better late than never
A reminder that this years AGM of the Mineral Deposits Studies Group
meeting is being held at Burlington House. Cost of registration will
be 40 UK pounds, with a reduction of 10 pounds for members of MDSG,
the Geological Society or the Mineralogical Society. People who
joined MDSG at the SGA and cannot make it to the meeting will be
entitled to an electronic copy of the abstracts, available via the Web
site or through e-mail via Jon Naden.
If you attend the meeting and are not already a member then the
registration fee includes membership for the year 2000.
If you are interested in joining MDGS and receiving a copy of the
abstracts, then send an e-mail mentioning MDSG membership in the
subject to the membership secretary (Jon Naden -- [log in to unmask]).
Deadline for abstracts was provisionally set for 31st of October, this
has been extended to 30th November.
At present, no special arrangements have been made for accommodation.
There is plenty of accomodation in central London and it's possible to
make "internet bookings" at a number of places.
www.londontown.com
is the English tourist board site. They have accomodation from c. 30
UK pounds per night (this includes accommodation in University Halls
of residence).
and there is the British Hotel Reservation Centre
www.bhrc.co.uk
Though the meeting is scheduled to run over two days, it is not
intended to start before Lunch on the first day -- there have been a
number of large economic geology meetings in the last year and we are
not anticipating a full two day program (though this may change).
This will give people the opportunity to travel to London using cheap
train tickets and spend just one night in London. There will be a
Social Dinner on the evening of the 7th (this is included in the price
of registration)
There is limited financial support for non-NERC funded, and European
students. This is dependent on submitting an abstract and making a
presentation -- preference will be given to oral presentations. To
make a request for funding send an e-mail along with your abstract to
Jon Naden ([log in to unmask]).
