BEST PRACTICE FOR THE COMBINED GEOTECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL
INVESTIGATION OF BROWNFIELD SITES
Joint Meeting between the Engineering and Environment Groups at
Burlington House, 17:30.
It seems self-evident that the combined geotechnical and
environmental investigation of sites has the potential to offer
developers savings of both cost and time when compared with separate
investigations. Yet such investigations are often done separately,
frequently by different organisations. This meeting aims to examine
how and when joint investigations should be carried out and to
provide examples of best practice.
Four speakers from the industry will be presenting their
views. The floor will then be open to debate chaired by Dr Paul
Nathanail. The aim of this forum is to give people freedom to argue
positions robustly in the spirit of debate rather than from a vested
interest view point.
The speakers will be:
Mike Smith, Stanger Science and Environmental: "The need for
integrated site investigations".
Nicola Legg and Liz Harrison, WS Atkins Consultants Ltd:
"Integrated site investigations - why they work and what can go
wrong".
Adrian Marsh, STATS Ltd: "Achieving quality, value and
accountability in investigations"
There is no registration fee for this event for Fellow of the Geological
Society. However it would be helpful if you could let the convenors know if
you are planning to attend.
