NAFEMS Announces Formation of North American Chapter
GLASGOW, SCOTLAND UK - October 23, 1999 - NAFEMS, the international
association for the engineering analysis community, has announced plans to
form a North American Steering Committee to better address the needs of this
growing analysis user base. Founded in 1983 with the stated objective, "to
promote the safe and reliable use of finite element and related technology,"
NAFEMS has come to symbolize quality and education to the finite element
(FE) community in Europe. Vince Adams of WyzeTek, Inc. has accepted the
invitation to be the first chairman of the North American (NA) Steering
Committee which is composed of experts from the fields of medical devices,
automotive, aerospace, and FE software development in both the USA and
Canada.
The first meeting of the NA Steering Committee will be in February 2000
coinciding with the first of four planned open workshops based on the
successful "Fundamentals of FEA for Design Engineers" which are currently
provided regularly in the UK. The February activities are scheduled in Los
Angeles, CA with subsequent workshops in Boston, MA, Detroit, MI, and
Dallas, TX in the months of May, September, and November, respectively. The
first committee meeting will focus on establishing an agenda of issues
critical to the growth of FE quality in NA. Members and interested
individuals or organizations are encouraged to communicate their thoughts,
needs, and concerns to the steering committee for inclusion in the February
planning meeting.
NAFEMS is a non-profit association funded through membership subscriptions
and represents the interests of the engineering analysis community in over
30 countries.
