Hi,
I am using Abaqus to do some 3D contact problem. I met a problem and
cannot find a good answer. I wish friends here can help me out.
In the model, I have about 9000 elements and use user subroutine (only
13 more output variables). I need the history output. The problem is
that the restart file is too large (more than 2G for just 17 increments).
I know my model is just small comparing to the sophisticated models. So I
want to ask how you handle the output.
For me I do the following:
1. reduce the output to *.dat file. I only output some necessary output
for checking the process of analysis.
2. run Abaqus again for output only by using *output command. Or run the
programmed FORTRAN code to extract the desired variables.
3. only keep the *.res file for future process.
I am not sure how to control the size of *.res. It seems contain all the
data produced during the analysis. My 10G disk can be filled in just a
few days. The compression ratio for the *.res files is very good (more
than 96%). But under unix, the compressing of 2G file is much painful.
It is difficult to transfer on the net without compression. So please
share your experience on how to handling the big output for Abaqus
efficiently.
Thanks to all
Kai
