UNED-UK are co-ordinating a Healthy Planet Forum to take place in London from 15-18 June 1999
at the same time as the World Health Organisation 3rd Ministerial Conference on Environment
and Health.
The Healthy Planet Forum will include:
- Two large one-day conferences. One will be on 'New Perspectives in Environment & Health',
which will bring together NGOs and public sector bodies to discuss new ways to work on these
issues. The second will be a major event on Food. Each will include poster exhibitions by
participants. These, and other smaller events on many issues, will give those taking part the
opportunity to influence the European agenda on these issues as policymakers, business and
NGO sectors come together.
- An open rally on the evening of 17 June to draw hundreds of people and attention from media
and ministers.
- Daily briefing sessions to update people on issues arising at the Ministerial conference.
- Case studies which will present the work of NGOs from all over Europe.
- An NGO declaration setting targets for future work.
As well as the large conferences there will be five other meeting rooms for seminars, workshops,
smaller conferences and planning meetings. Some of these are available for the use of any
organisation wishing to organise its own event. There will also be a large exhibition organised
with the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
