EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT : A WARMER CLIMATE IN SCHOOLS?
Supported by DfEE, DTI, DETR, WWF-UK and Abbey National, the theme of this year's conference will be learning for
sustainable development in schools and aims to consider whether schools of the 21st century are equipped to secure the
commitment of pupils to sustainable development.
DfEE Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State (School Standards), Jacqui Smith MP, and other speakers will address
government policies and initiatives, including Curriculum 2000, Education Action Zones, Excellence in Cities, Beacon Schools
and the Foresight programme.
Speakers include Nick Tate, Chief Executive QCA, Stephen Dunmore, Chief Executive New Opportunities Fund, Tony Smith,
Director of Education Devon County Council, Robert Napier, Chief Executive WWF-UK, Sara Parkin Co-Director Forum for the
Future, Ed Gallagher, Chief Executive Environment Agency and Carmel Gallagher, Assistant Director Northern Ireland
Curriculum Council.
The conference will be held from 10am - 4.30 pm at the Hotel Russell, Russell Square, London WC1.
Delegate cost is £375 for CEE members and associates and £395 for others.
