METU INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN ECONOMICS/III

CALL FOR PAPERS AND PRELIMINARY LIST OF INVITED SPEAKERS
GENERAL INFORMATION
erc, Economic Research Center, is an independent research organization
at the Department of Economics, Middle East Technical University (METU).
The METU Conference on Economics, organized by erc, aims to provide a
forum for the exchange of research results on the theory and practice of
economics. We expect the conference to contribute to scientific contacts
and cooperation among scholars.
PAPER TOPICS
The program will consist of invited lectures by leading scholars and
contributed papers that represent a broad spectrum of applied and
theoretical economics, econometrics, and related fields. Papers written
in English or Turkish are all welcome. Selected papers are planned to be
published in the conference special issue of the METU Studies in
Development. All papers presented, will be collected in CD ROMs in PDF
format and will also appear on our Web site.
SCHEDULE
June 15, 1999 Abstracts must be received
July 15, 1999 Authors will be informed of acceptance of abstracts
for presentation
August 15, 1999 Accepted papers must be received
August 15, 1999 Pre-registration
THE CBRT YOUNG ECONOMIST AWARD
An award (2000 US $) will be given by the Central Bank of Republic of
Turkey (CBRT) to the best paper presented in the Young Economists
Sessions. Graduate students and those who received their Ph.D. degree
after January 1, 1997, can apply for inclusion in the award competition.
THE ISE BEST FINANCE PAPER AWARD
Istanbul Stock Exchange (ISE) will give an award (2000 US $) to the best
financial economics paper.
SUBMISSION OF ABSTRACTS
Abstract should be limited to 350 words. We would appreciate receiving
your abstracts via internet and within an internet-message. An application
to present a paper should include: i) the name and the address of the
corresponding author, ii) a fax number, and/or an e-mail address (if
available), iii) the names and affiliations of all authors, and iv) the
title of the paper, with its classification numbers according to the
Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) Classification System.
FEES AND ACCOMODATION
Conference registration fees:
Participants 100 USD
Accompanying Persons 50 USD
Registration fee includes abstract book, lunches, evening meals,
cocktails, and refreshments during the conference. Registration forms
can be obtained from erc or can be found on our web site. Accommodation
for the participants will be provided in University Youth Guest Houses
and Hotels in Ankara. METU Travel Agency is doing the necessary
arrangements for accommodation and tours that our participants might be
