The national census does collect a limited amount of data
(to be improved in the next round I understand) in that it
asks something like do you have a long term health problem.
The office of Population Census & Surveys (OPCS) are
usually willing to reveal this information on request.
I don't know if they are linked to the government websites,
but their snailmail address is:

PO14.
