Dear Colleagues,

In March last year, I informed you that Chapman & Hall, the publishers of
CIDAC (International Journal of Computer-Integrated Design and
Construction), had been taken over by Kluwer. In July 1998, Kluwer decided
not to continue C & H's support for CIDAC, as they have no portfolio of
journals in the Construction field. I have had to look for alternative
publishers.

I am pleased to report that the first of issue of CIDAC will now be
published in May 1999 (with subsequent issues in August and November 1999),
through the Institution of Structural Engineers in London. The backing of a
major professional institution such as IStructE is most welcome. 

CIDAC will continue to be published quarterly, as originally intended. I
will shortly be unveiling the journal's new Web site, which will have full
details of the journal's aims and scope, instructions for authors,
subscription rates and order forms, revised Editorial Board structure,
forthcoming papers, publisher's contact details, etc.

I would encourage you and your colleagues to continue submitting
manuscripts for publication in CIDAC. A rapid review process is now in
operation and I guarantee that feedback will be given to all authors within
3 months of manuscript submission.

If you subscribed to CIDAC before the take-over of Chapman & Hall, please
let me know so that I can arrange for a transfer of your subscription to
the new publishers. If you requested for a sample copy of CIDAC's maiden
issue from Chapman & Hall, please also let me know and I will ensure that
one is sent to you in May. All those who sent requests for sample copies
direct to me will automatically be included in the mailing list.

Finally, I would like to thank you all (particularly the authors of
accepted papers) for the understanding that has been demonstrated during
this transition period. Your continued support for CIDAC is appreciated.
