This is a really excellent initiative. One idea is that you could
develop video scenarios to show how evidence could be used in practice.
For example, there are many papers which discuss the possible benefits
and harms of drug therapy. Two papers often used by the Critical
Appraisal Skills Programme are a Systematic Review on the effectiveness
of antibiotics for acute cough and a Randomised Controlled Trial on Zinc
Gluconate.
Whenever these papers are discussed in workshops, clinicians say that
the results of the papers are difficult to apply because of the
complexities of the clinical encounter e.g.
a) some patients are more ill than others, how do they know which to
treat?
b) some patients demand more from their doctors, how can this be taken
into account?
c) some doctors are influenced more heavily by their colleagues and so
on.
This issues could be illustrated by a video presenation, perhaps using
an initial scenario, but with slightly differing plots.
