The University of Plymouth is seeking three half-time, or one full
time and one half-time research assistants, for two year
appointments
researching youth justice.
Plymouth Youth Offending Team and local partners have recently
been
awarded funding from the Youth Justice Board to set up new
community
justice projects under the auspices of the 1998 Crime & Disorder
Act. The
projects comprise programmes in the fields of restorative justice,
mentoring, and education and employment inclusion. Plymouth
University has
been awarded funding to evaluate these programmes.
The successful candidates will have a social science degree,
preferably including a strong criminal justice or social work
element, and an interest or experience in working with young
offenders. Candidates should be familiar with IT, and preferably have
experience of quantitative (e.g SPSS) and qualitative (e.g. NUDIST
