With the exception of this final response concerning my original email I would
like to thank all those that have sent constructive replies back to the list. I
would like to state for the record, and in my defence and to correct the offensive
remarks above, I am an electronic and optoelectronic engineer, not a software
engineer, and as such on occassion I use generic tools to work with and I am asked
to develop others, one of which is written in Fortran. I do not claim to
understand 'everything' about Fortran, nor my research, appropriately so or there
would be no research nor any requirement for this discussion list.
Within our research group in the University of Glasgow we pride ourselves on our
world class reputation in the field of photonic band gap materials, and host some
of the pioneering names, publications, practical and theoretical work that speak
for our excellence in this field. If you are interested the link to my research is
below.
I do not appreciate this type of personal public critism and my understanding is
that such comments are outside the scope of this list. I would like however thank
once again all of you who have provided links, useful comments and helpful
feedback including Paddy O'Brien who even answered the me personally to the
original email entitled 'Function calls in implied do loops'
