CALL FOR PAPERS - DEADLINE 5 NOVEMBER 1999
THE CONFERENCE
Consciousness Reframed 2000 is a forum for developments in the field of
art, technology and consciousness. Following the success of the previous
Consciousness Reframed conferences in 1997 and 1998 (each of which
attracted some 200 delegates from 23 countries, including 100 presenters),
Consciousness Reframed 2000 will again take place at the Centre for
Advanced Inquiry in the Interactive Arts (CAiiA), University of Wales
College, Newport. Registration and Reception for Consciousness Reframed
2000 will be on Wednesday 23 August 2000. The conference programme will be
scheduled from Thursday 24 to Saturday 26 August inclusive.
CALL FOR CONFERENCE PAPERS
Papers are invited from researchers in all disciplines who are involved in
exploring, through theory and practice, inter-relationships between art,
technology and consciousness. Researchers in the sciences, technology, and
the humanities, as well as the arts, are invited to submit.
ABSTRACTS (500 word maximum) are due by 5 November 1999
Submit your abstract as an attached document in Microsoft Word by e-mail to
Kay Bosanko-Sheady at [log in to unmask] Include in your submission of
the title of the paper, up to five keywords, full name(s) of author(s),
institutional affiliation(s), and your mailing address, including
email/phone/fax/and URL if applicable. (If Panels are proposed, give
details of each panellist). Your Abstract must be accompanied by a
declaration of your intention to attend the conference.
Abstracts will be acknowledged on receipt and authors will be notified of
acceptance by 20 December 1999.
REGISTRATION FEE
The Registration fee for Presenters of UK 95 (ninety-five pounds) must be
paid by 12 February 2000 in order to be included in the conference
programme, publicity and announcements
FULL PAPERS (2500 word maximum) are due by 1 March 2000.
Papers received after this date will not be published. Full details of the
presentation format for Full Papers will be sent on acceptance of the
Abstract.
INTERSTICES WORKSHOP
As in 1998, the Conference will be followed by the Workshop "Interstices:
the Architecture of Consciousness" at the Science Technology and Art
Research Centre (STAR), School of Computing, University of Plymouth (28/29
August 2000).
Participation in the Workshop will be limited to those presenting papers at
the Conference.
Full details will be sent to those registered as Presenters at the Conference.
CONFERENCE ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS
Campus accommodation at modest rates will be available at Newport and at
Plymouth. Details available.
