Dear listmembers,
If any of you are fans of slightly obscure 18th-c drama, perhaps you could
help me with the source of the following quote:
"There is a virtuous magic in your eye,
That, whereso'er it casts a beam of light,
Creates a blessing."
Clara Reeve cites the author merely as "Shirley"---I've read through
several of William Shirley's (1739-1780)plays (_Edward the Black Prince_,
_The Parricide_, _The Birth of Hercules_) and am waiting for various
others to come through interlibrary loan. So far, though, I've been
unsuccessful in my search for the source. Are there any Shirley experts
out there who can give me a hand?
Many thanks,
Jeanine Casler
