Am impressed with Peter Riley's careful political analysis.
'Reality' is indeed a very strange business, and a construct,
not something that claim ultimate validity. (In a democracy,
you can explain anything.)
The idea that poets have no responsibility in this regard,
however, seems a little limiting. If poets do not play with the
various levels of potential reality, our boring work would
be more boring than it already boring-well is.
