Dear Lisa,
Hi! I think Gabe's advice is very good, especially his suggestion that you look
up examples of poems written for weddings. The Epithaliamium written by Andrew
Motion for the
Duke and Duchess of Windsor's wedding is an apt example.
I just wanted to add that you may want to think about including in the poem
some information about your parents and maybe some descriptions of their
interests. When I wrote a poem for my brother's wedding I made it mostly a
tribute to him and my sister in law. They loved the personal
touches and they included the poem in their wedding album. By the way, their
wedding annivesary is coming up in a week's time ... it's their
20th!!! Egad! Feels like yesterday....
Yours,
Ivy Garlitz
