Interactive Music Takes Another Step Forward on the Internet
MAIDENHEAD, UK - January 4, 1999 -- SSEYO today released a Mac version
of its popular interactive Koan Music Plugin at http://www.sseyo.com.
SSEYO is first to market with a free cross-browser interactive music
solution for both Windows and Mac platforms. The SSEYO Koan Music
Plugin is now ready to power up a market for new personal Internet music
experiences. These will include the likes of online musical
instruments, media-rich banner ads and web toys.
The SSEYO Koan Music Plugin for the Mac has the same powerful music
sequencing capabilities and programmability as its Windows counterpart.
The Windows version is already well established on the Internet having
received many hundreds of thousands of downloads.
As well as being interactive, the SSEYO Koan Music Plugin is generative.
This generative ability means it can also compose unique and
non-scripted music on the fly. The term generative music, often used to
describe Koan, has been popularised by Brian Eno, producer of U2 and
David Bowie.
Website developers of either Mac or Windows persuasion can use SSEYO
Koan Pro to create custom material for interactive Koan music
environments. These music environments can be files as small as 1k
which can play for ever. SSEYO Koan Pro is available from SSEYO's
online store for approximately $99.95 USD.
On PowerMac/iMac platforms the Koan Music Plugin operates with Netscape
Navigator/Communicator and uses Quick Time Musical Instruments (QTMI).
On 32 bit Windows platforms the Koan Music Plugin operates with both
Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator/Communicator and uses the
system's soundcard or softsynth.
The Koan Music Plugin is freely available from the Netscape Netcenter
SmartUpdate service (Windows version only at present) or from the SSEYO
website.
