The Department of English at the University of Bristol is
hosting the Seventh One-day Romantic Studies Conference on
Saturday, 13th March 1999.
> This conference will be devoted to an examination of Romantic
> Correspondence, which has been the subject of a number of illuminating
> recent studies. Contributors are encouraged to be inventive. Possible
> subjects include: the traditions and genre of letter-writing; public
> and private letters; the epistolary novel; the verse epistle and
> connections between verse and prose letters; the materiality of the
> letter; the scene of letter-writing; letter-writing and autobiograpy.
> Treatment of individual correspondents or correspondence is welcome but
> constributors should try to discover the principles of larger
> significance in their treatment of particular cases. Papers should be
> scheduled to last for 20 minutes.

> Proposals for papers on these or related topics to arrive, if possible,
