Yes, it's true, but the transformations I'm studying, done by a Portuguese
Romantic collector, are MUCH MORE important than Nucio's and even than
Timoneda's tampering. Besides, Nucio collected his texts from broadsides,
not from oral tradition, and Timoned used other written collections (namely
Nucio's Cancionero). Of course, there are Spanish 19th c. editors who
collected ballads from oral tradition and altered them a lot, but I can't
find studies on them and their texts.
