Dear subscribers
I run the North West Film Archive at the Manchester Metropolitan
University. This is a major public moving image collection - please
visit our website for more information (www.nwfa.mmu.ac.uk)where there
is a link to our newly created online database.
I work with a very broad constituency in the public, academic and
corporate sectors - the NWFA is very market-focused (it has to be - we
have to argue for every penny and don't recieve any statutory
funding!)and its success is largely based on this approach. I have a
marketing qualification and am a member of the Arts Marketing
Association.
There are 6 other colleagues here who work on acquisition, preservation,
storage, cataloguing - and providing access services to clients
including television producers, undergraduate students and
museums. We're currently pioneering a project to improve access for
people with hearing and sight impairments which has just completed its
first phase and secured new funding to develope further. The NWFA has a
high international profile and next month will be involved in several
major screening events in Montreal.
