Manuscripts or archives: it's odd that people should still find this
difficult. The thing to remember is that the definition of archives does not
mention the format. All forms of document, manuscipt or print, can be
archives; contrariwise any manuscript can be appropriate for a library. The
question to ask is - is the the direct outcome of some continuing activity or
not? The difference between an archives and a library is therefore nothing to
do with whether the materials are manuscript or not.
