Dear all,
I'm not sure that Sarah and I are saying the same thing, although I know
that we agree that professional standards are important and that letters
are a widely recognised "badge" marking competence.
My view is that more formal training is required and that "professional"
status, and therefore designatory letters, should be linked to that rather
than to CPD. If the SoA is able to broaden its formal training then all
well and good - if not then its efforts should be directed towards helping
others (ie the universities) to strengthen their courses.
I do agree that it's a nice little discussion for the end of the week!
