New Opportunities Fund - Digitisation of Learning Materials
NOF has £50m to distribute for the digitisation of learning materials.
Application forms are now available for this programme. The deadline for
stage 1 of this 2-stage programme is 31st January 2000. There will be no
further opportunity to participate in this programme. Those wishing to
compete must therefore meet this deadline.
The key criteria are for bids of regional or national interest for projects
that complement but are not designed to meet the specific needs of the
national curriculum. The three broad categories are Cultural enrichment,
Citizenship in a modern state and Reskilling the nation. No minimum level of
partnership funding is specified. No funding will be available for
development costs or for costs relating to publishing and intellectual
property rights. Information digitised must be made available free of charge
to users of the New Library Network and the National Grid for Learning.
For an application form telephone England 0845 0000121, Wales 0845 0000122,
Scotland 0845 0000123 or Northern Ireland 0845 0000124. The application form
and information for applicants are also available on a dedicated web site at
www.nof-digitise.org. A more detailed review of this programme will be given
in the November issue of the newsletter.
