Dear all,
one aspect that is rarely found in the tables (not to mention the text) of
archaeometallurgical reports is the use of geochemical standards to
monitor accuracy and calibration of the data obtained by XRF and/or ICP. I
understand there are only a handful of standards available for blast
furnace material but what does the international community run together
with ancient metallurgical slags? I have come across and used the FER
stuff myself (on bloomery slag, for that matter), in addition to a wide
range of geological standards (probably more or less useful) - any other
recommendations?
Irene
