CONFERENCE ON AQUACULTURE IN THE THIRD MILLENNIUM 21-25 February 2000,
Bangkok
HAVE YOUR SAY ON THE FUTURE OF AQUACULTURE DEVELOPMENT
The Network of Aquaculture Centres in the Asia-Pacific (NACA) and the Food
and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) are co-sponsoring
the Conference on Aquaculture in the Third Millennium. The conference will
identify the major constraints to the future development of aquaculture and
develop a strategic plan to address these issues on a global basis. The
conference also aims to facilitate inter-regional cooperation in aquaculture
development.
The major focus will be on policy and planning with an emphasis on the
social, technical and regulatory issues surrounding aquaculture development
and aquaculture technologies including genetics. The conference will be held
in association with an international trade exhibition, the Aquaculture and
Seafood Fair 2000. Pre/post conference study tours to farms, hatcheries,
processing facilities and markets in the region are available.
This will be a unique opportunity for participants to help shape the future
direction of aquaculture development. The emphasis on audience participation
in discussion groups will allow participants to have direct interaction with
policy makers in a forum specifically aimed at aquaculture planning and
development.
The updated prospectus on the conference and trade fair is available from
the NACA website http://www.fisheries.go.th/naca or requested directly from
the Conference Secretariat.
