Inspection and Client Management Unit
Records Management Department
The Public Record Office (PRO) is 'The National Archives', holding the
records of central government from the Domesday Book to the present day. The
Records Management Department works with other government departments to
ensure that they follow best practice in records management and that records
selected for permanent preservation are transferred to the Public Record
Office.
We are seeking two Client Managers with different fields of specialisation:
Specialist in Cartography or Cartographic History
Salary: c£22,211 - £28,133
This vacancy is for a client manager with a specialist knowledge of
cartographic history or cartography. You will be responsible for a group of
government departments which have a high proportion of modern maps, plans
and architectural drawings, including those generated and stored
electronically. Your role would include selecting records for permanent
preservation and promoting a high standard of records management. You will
need to have a degree or equivalent in an appropriate area of modern
historical geography or a degree/HND in cartography.
Social Scientist with Statistical Skills
Salary: c£22,211 - £28,133
We also have a vacancy for a client manager who has a social science
background and, in particular, has expertise in statistical methods and
sampling techniques. You will be responsible for a group of government
departments which have a high proportion of statistical records or where we
need you to employ sampling techniques to give a picture of, for example,
social or economic trends. Your role would include selecting records for
permanent preservation and promoting a high standard of records management.
You will need to have a sound understanding of statistical methods and
sampling techniques, together with a degree or equivalent in the social
sciences, statistics or a related discipline.
Both successful applicants will have:
* proven time-management skills
* good interpersonal skills
* ability to initiate and manage change.
