ENVIRONMENTAL EPIDEMIOLOGY UNIT

Statistician
An opportunity now exists for a full-time statistician to join a team at
the Medical Research Council Environmental Epidemiology Unit in Southampton
(under the Directorship of Professor D J P Barker). The Unit carries out
studies of (i) the fetal origins of cardiovascular and other diseases (ii)
fetal growth and non-insulin dependent diabetes (iii) osteoporosis (iv)
maternal nutrition and (iv) occupational and environmental causes of disease.
Candidates should possess a MSc in statistics or equivalent postgraduate
qualification and a minimum of one year's work experience. You will be
involved with the analysis of large and complex datasets using appropriate
statistical techniques using SPSS for Windows and Stata software. The post
is initially for a fixed term period of one year with a possible extension.
Starting salary will be in the range of £16,000 - £20,000 per annum on MRC
Pay and Grading System, Band 4. Hours are 37 per week.
