APLOOGIES FOR CROSS-POSTING
3-day Computer Laboratory Based
COURSES ON STATISTICAL METHODS
University of Manchester School of Epidemiology and Health Sciences
and Centre for Census and Survey Research.
1. Modern Methods of Longitudinal Data Analysis (LDA) using STATA by
Andrew Pickles 13/15th October.
Provides an overview of LDA methods but focuses particularly on
various formulations of random effects models.
2. Latent Variable and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) using EQS
for Windows by Andrew Pickles and Graham Dunn 19/21st October.
Provides an introduction to numerate social and medical researchers
to practical analysis using SEM.
3. Latent Variable and Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) for
Biostatisticians using the freeware program Mx. by Andrew Pickles and
Shuying Yang 24/26th November.
Shows how SEM methods can be useful tools for multivariate and
longitudinal data (continuous, censored and discrete) in the context
of measurement error in epidemiological studies, in clinical trials
and in genetics.
4. Longitudinal data analysis using STATA by Andrew Pickles (12/14
January 2000).
More general than Course 1, this provides a practical overview of the
main classes of methods including population average and random
effects models, selection and event history models.
5. Advanced Survey Design and Analysis using STATA by Andrew Pickles
(10-12th April 2000).
Covers the tools required to undertake sound analyses of complex
survey data.
